Welcome to KindredStitch: A New Home for Thoughtful Makers
Hello, friend. I'm so glad you're here.
KindredStitch didn’t begin with a business plan or a blueprint. It began quietly—one stitch at a time, in the moments between motherhood, therapy sessions, and late-night crafting under a pile of blankets. It began with a feeling: I wish there was a place like this.
A place for people who love the slowness of handwork, the quiet rhythm of the needle, the joy of finishing something with care. A place where stitchers of all kinds—cross stitchers, embroidery artists, paper piecers, and hand-sewing makers—could connect without distraction. A place that felt warm, human, and kind.
So I made it.
✨ A Full-Circle Journey
When I was ten, my mother tried to teach me cross stitch. At the time, it felt tedious—too slow for my young, busy mind. But decades later, I picked up the needle again and felt something different. The sound of the thread through fabric. The focus. The stillness. The beauty.
Today, cross stitch is my sanctuary. Knitting and crochet will always be part of my maker identity—they’re deeply practical and full of love, especially when I craft gifts for the people I cherish. But cross stitch? That’s where I go when I want to create art, not just things. It’s where I reconnect with myself.
🪡 Why KindredStitch?
I created KindredStitch because I wanted more than a place to post photos. I wanted:
- A gentle community where stitchers feel seen and celebrated.
- A pattern nook curated by real people—not algorithms.
- A space where we can learn together, share projects, find inspiration, and support one another in this beautifully slow, meditative craft.
Whether you’re brand new to stitching or have a hoop in every room, this is your space too. You belong here.
💬 I’d Love to Hear From You
As KindredStitch grows, I want it to reflect the community it serves. What would you love to see here?
Features? Stitch-alongs? Tutorials? Supply guides? A place to track your projects?
Drop me a message, leave a comment, or share your dream feature. I’m listening—and stitching this space together with you.
Thank you for being here at the beginning.
Let’s make something beautiful, one stitch at a time.
With care,
Emily
